President's Letter
Matt Jennings
June 8th, 2010
The days are warm, the fish are willing, and life is full to top...this could only mean it's summer. I dream of fishing, but that's about as close to the handle of a fly rod as I've been in a while. Still fish are on my mind, as we work on the ravines, and plan workdays at Paradise Springs. Look to further our influence in Educating people about trout and our environment through our first ever Boy Scout Merit Badge Classes, and through our volunteers giving of themselves at The Illinois Council Youth Conservation and Fly Fishing School.
A few years ago we had very few programs going on, and then a new fertile group of people joined GBTU in a small amount of time. This week I was filling out a Chapter Effectiveness Index for our chapter, and was amazed that in a remarkably short amount of time we are getting the maximum scores in almost every category, and by next year we will max out the one that we weren't at the highest level in. This document is formulated to make the leadership of a chapter evaluate itself, and guide it to be a model of what a TU chapter should be.
I just wanted to say Thank You to all the good active people of this chapter for taking a chance to rebuild it into what it is today. Thank You for sticking it out through the many setbacks along the way. Thank You for Sharing your time, your hearts, and you minds for the good of world. I want all of you to keep up the good work and hope you will stick with the chapter as we move forward. Let's keep working and having fun.
I will be proud to honor those who have given great service to GBTU with awards mightily earned, and we will do this at the June Picnic. Here's to all the great GBTU Fish Warriors !!!
See you there, Matt Jennings
