Paradise Springs Workday
June 27th, 2009
On Saturday, June 27, 2009, at 8:00 a.m., Gary Borger TU will return to the Southern District of the Kettle Moraine, to work with our good friends from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and likely a number of volunteers from the South East Wisconsin TU group. There are a couple projects that we will likely work on. First, we will be doing finish work from the placement of around 50 bank structures that will have been placed in stream by DNR personell. This will include moving some dirt and rock, and spreading seed. Secondly, we will be finishing up some work started earlier in the year by SEWTU to shore up the bank of The Paradise Springs Pond with "Biologs", all under DNR guidance.
We'll start at 8:00 a.m., with our meetup location being the Paradise Springs parking lot, located on Highway N, off of Highway 59, to the west of Eagle, WI (in southwestern Waukesha County). A map to the site is located here.
We'll work for one-half day, as always, and finish with a free lunch. Do bring waders. Remember to bring gloves and eye protection! DNR staff will provide tools and equipment. DNR staff will also provide directions to anybody that wishes to try out some local fishing afterwards.
This is a great project close to home and easily accessible to the public. This area is quietly being improved and is as close as possible to two large population sources. So, let's turn out a good crew, and continue to uphold TU's mission of protecting, reconnecting, restoring, and sustaining coldwater resources.
Volunteers are asked to RSVP to Matt Jennings, mattsbug@comcast.net
