Paradise Springs Workday

December 8th, 2007

On Saturday, December 8th the SouthEast Wisconsin chapter of TU (SEWTU) is sponsoring a stream workday at Paradise Springs. This is the chapter that Henry Koltz, the guy who spoke to our meeting last time about work days, belongs to. The work project will begin at 9 AM and go until noon, at which time we break for lunch - and not just any lunch! Beer soaked brats will be grilled along with all the fixins'. There'll be plenty of beer and soft drinks, desserts and conversation. People build up big appetites after all that work and fresh air and there's plenty to go around.

The work will be mainly brush clearing along the stream and the pool near the spring. The last time we were there, a couple of months ago, it was cold and rainy all day, but we all worked up a good sweat and hardly noticed the cold. We ate lunch in one of the open shelters. It was a good time.

Henry's hoping that our chapter will have a good turnout for this important conservation project. For those who have been wanting to see what these work days are like, this is a perfect opportunity. He'd like to make this a joint workday with SEWTU and GBTU.

To get there I go up Rt. 12 to 67, then north to the town of Eagle, then take 59 out of Eagle west to Rt. N, then north about a third of a mile. It's on the right hand side of the road. It's close to home, west of Milwaukee adjacent to the South Kettle Morraine area and less than 2 hours from here. For those with the Wisconsin Atlas and Gazetteer, it on page 30, A-2.

Henry asked that we let him know how many will be coming from our chapter, so that he can be sure to have enough food, so if you could let me know before next Thursday, I'll pass the information along to Henry. I can be reached at 847-297-5758 or at jlbailey2@hotmail.com.

Hope to see you all there!
