Paradise Springs Creek Workday

August 23rd, 2008

Workday Workday Workday!!! Come one, Come all!!!

Gary Borger chapter of Trout Unlimited is hosting a workday August 23rd, to build "Lunker Structures" for our project on Paradise Springs Creek. With help from our friends at Southeast Wisconsin chapter of Trout Unlimited, and the good people of the Waukesha County Fisheries Department. This should be a really fun workday, and improve a great cold water stream within easy driving distance of most of our members.

We will be building these "mini lunkers" at the Fisheries Operations Shop on Hwy 59 between Eagle and Palmyra from 8:00-noon. Look for a sign that says "Fisheries Operations". We will have all the tools, materials, and the plans to make the "mini lunkers". Workers will need to bring their own work clothes, work footwear, eye protection, ear protection, and gloves that can deflect splinters from rough hewn oak boards. Lunkers will be stored on site for later placement in the stream.

If there are enough workers there is another step towards restoration of the stream that needs done, because Ben Heussner the Waukesha County Fisheries Biologist also has the stuff to spray some Reed Canary Grass that is currently choking off the creek.

At noon there will be a good old workday feed for all that helped. There will of course be brats, but also some Chicago style flare mixed in. So, come out and join the fun with GBTU on our first sponsored workday in quite some time, as we put in the groundwork for our future work on Paradise Springs Creek.

Please let us know if you would like to help out, so we can have enough food for everyone.
