At the Highland Park council meeting on May 14 th, the city formally recognized Rebecca Grill of the Park District and Howard Hill of the Highland Park High School for their contributions on the Ravine project and the environmental teaching program at the high school respectively.
Mayor Rotering read the Mayoral proclamation honoring Rebecca Grill for her coordination of the Braeside School Fourth Grade Trout Release Event and for her dedication and outstanding contributions to environmental initiatives in the community. She accepted the proclamation and thanked the City Council, Braeside Elementary School and Highland Park High School, Gary Borger Trout Unlimited, and all those involved in this event. Also mentioned were Braeside teachers, Shara Lieberman & Nancy Swartz.
Howard Hill will be hosting the Trout in the Classroom program for the A.P. Environmental Education at Highland Park High School for 2012-2013. Mr. Hill was one of 18 teachers nationwide, recently selected as a Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Educators Winner by the White House Council on Environmental Quality and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
